Beyond the 3000
A final blow to the misery of 2006 was the death of our 3000th service member in Iraq.
Look at a recent poll of military members in Iraq that found 42% of them disagree with the way Bush is conducting the war; 41% think we should never have gone over in the first place; both numbers way down, and opposite supporting numbers in the 30s. The people who are doing the fighting on the ground know as well sa the rest of us do - this is, and was, a huge mistake.
The only ones left on the planet who haven't figured it out seem to be Bush & a few of his neo-con buddies.

yes, and these people are still in control of foreign policy, and there's not a lot we can do about them, unfortunately.
What's more unfortunate is the fact that the many thousands of relatives and friends will have to face the reality that their loved ones had to die for one man's vanity war, and that they did NOT make the world better with their sacrifice, but MUCH WORSE. That is not their fault, of course, but their blamelessness won't bring them back. We have got to resolve not to permit any wars of choice in this new year.
Question is how much the new Congress can do to get us out of there. Hold back funds?
Get them home, get them home NOW
