Honestly, I'm nervous about this appointment based on some of the findings people have been digging up from his Reagan years. But I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that he might not be the antichrist.

Looks a heck of a lot more balanced than the rantings of Kennedy would make you think, huh?
i think you get some idea of what alito is about from the people cheering him on. i have an ultraconservative student, a nice guy to the right of atilla the hun, who described sam alito as his "dream" nominee. the people backing him are mostly all people i would NEVER select to accompany me on a round-the-world tandem bike trip.
i was briefly nostalgic for harriet m. earlier in the day. the conservatives on the court might've mocked her and she would've been driven into the arms of stevens and ginsburg. i think sam is going to stand tall and stand firm for a whole lot of things we don't like very much.
