No doubt feeling the warmth from the lobster summit, Vladimir sent George an Independence Day message. Yes, we have a man who pledged to protect and defend the US constitution and has, instead, done his best to rip the document to shreds being congratulated on all that we hold dear and honor on July 4th by a man who has not been shy about using KGB-era tactics to run the "new and improved" Russia.
Try to put this nonsense aside and enjoy the true spirit of the day - one I believe is stronger than anything Bush & Co., can do to it - at least in the long run.

Well, don't forget Putin's upbringing...I'm sure he sees himself as a fellow democrat with his friend GW. After all, in his schooldays, the USSR had "free elections," too. Everyone was free to vote for the one person representing the one party in the country on each ballot. I never detected a hint of irony in anyone making that statement...
BTW, did you see Maureen Dowd's little rif on Vlad Vladimirovich? She referred to him as "Vlad the Impaler," declared he was the one who put the "putin" back in RAS-putin and had him offering to help georgie deal with his critics via some polonium 210-tablets designed to look like Altoids. absolutely priceless.
