Can you imagine Bush's handlers advising him to speak to China that way? It would upset them? And then they might not give us any more money!
I cannot imagine Bush talking so harshly to our debtors, or for that matter anyone except the amen corner at the American Legion or the VFW. Merkel pulls no punches, is consistent with everyone--she really does tell uncomfortable truths to power. I think it was Forbes magazine that named her the most powerful woman in the world.
