They Tape You, Chenster!

As Cheney continues to ride his high horse against all those who would seek to reinvent history, it's good to remind ourselves that the Chenster is better at it then most. The Slate's John Dickerson has offered up a few of Cheney's past and present statements for comparison. Click here to see what he said, or what he says he said, or is it what he said but didn't say when he said it.

i think we'll really have something to work with when, not if, he gets up there and starts decrying the "nattering nabobs of negativism" and excoriating the "effete snobs who characterize themselves as intellectuals." i think the man on the mickey mouse watch, an infamous predecessor, has been haunting the veep, in fact may have taken possession of his mental faculties. i don't know whether exorcism is recommended, though, because either personality is equally...what is the word, "reprehensible?"

You know, I think maybe part of the problem is Chenster and W just aren't made of the same stuff as the "greats" Spiro and Tricky D. Are we experiencing nostalgia for those days?

yes, those days were special. on a related topic, the outrage attending the jean schmidt attempt to smear murtha as a coward, schmidt acquired a killer apropos nickname: mean jean. that means it's permanently stuck to her...remember tricky dick? helen gahagan douglas turned around and slapped that moniker on him when he called her "pink lady" in...l954, maybe? nixon never lived that down and neither will "mean jean." i think she's fini, and deservedly so.
