Lenin

Was just watching my favorite French language news station (news that acknowledges there is a whole world out there, not just US interests). Gorbachev was asked about the debate over removing Lenin's tomb from Red Square. Polls apparently show that most people are ok with removing it, but there are many Lenin lovers who have boasted they would defend the mausoleum with their lives. Gorby's response was that any decision would have to wait until things were "normal."

Ok, up for grabs here -- name one time in Russia's history when things were "normal". Just so we'll know what we're waiting for.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out a way to place the symbol for infinity in this post.

now that's the best laugh i've had in awhile, the idea of waiting for normalcy to take hold in and around red square. with uncle il'ich in the pickle factory there?!
you've heard about the travails of those charged with keeping v.i. "viable" through the years...during the panic attending his wartime evacuation, some flunkie spilled hot water on his face, causing the skin to blister and bubble up almost irretrievably. that fellow didn't stay on, needless to say. anyway, they salvaged him, somehow, put him in military uni and returned him to his bed under glass when the all clear sounded.
you also probably knew the People Who Brought You Il'iich also brought you the Dmitrov mausoleum, the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, the mao mausoleum...as far as i know, Ho and Mao are still there, but outraged bulgarians long ago dumped out dimmi and put a public toilet where he once lay. oh, the outraged and scorned!!
btw, now the Lenin handlers now are working in north korea, working for hundreds of thousands of $$$ on the physical resurrection, yes, physical resurrection of Dear Leader I. i guess they'll let the world know when they achieve this goal...
